Holiday Inn Express Folkestone - Channel Tunnel

Cheriton Park, Cheriton High Street, Kent, Folkestone CT18 8AN, UK – 01303 298450

Standard Holiday Inn Express which is very convenient for departure to the continent via Folkestone or Dover. Next door to the UK headquarters of SAGA and so much used by people travelling on their holidays. Rooms pleasant with lift access to all floors. Set menu is limited and doesn't change that much. Limited number of staff and so you generally have to book a time to eat but it is good quality. A good stop off.

Excellent clean hotel. Staff all friendly. Food good. Great price and great stay. Stayed twice and we leave today to return for 2 days. Thank you to all staff at this hotel. Recommend x

Best Western Clifton Hotel

Clifton Gardens, The Leas, Folkestone CT20 2EB, UK – 01303 851231

Very charming hotel with a old feel. New reception, bar and restaurant, which was very nice. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Only negative was the noise from the bar across the road especially while we was there on Friday night. Wednesday and Thursday was not such a problem with noise, but a bit warm in the rooms.

It was quiet and staff were as friendly as I needed them to be. Very close to the sea front, close to a supermarket. Stayed for work and got a great deal.

Best Western Plus Burlington Hotel

3-5 Earls Ave, Folkestone CT20 2HR, UK – 01303 255301

Nice old building with sea views. My room had been renovated to a high standard. We had a really nice evening meal during a Christmas function. I'd recommend the lamb. Breakfast was OK. The fruit juices were watery and some of the sausages could have been browned a little more for my taste. Overall a great value stay. Update 2017 12 months later I came back here and stayed in the same room. It still looked brand new! The function was great as was the food. Breakfast was great and the restaurant had been fully refurbished and looks great. Renovation continues and it's all to high standards. The new bar looks amazing and I'm looking forward to experiencing the mixologist when it opens. The eggs for breakfast were cooked to perfection too.

Was there for a wedding on the 28 December and stayed the night. Loving the new decor. May I say that in my double room there was only one bath towel,my husband and I shared, heard this was the case in other double/ twin rooms. Only one person on the bar serving at a busy wedding. Finally, the breakfast was not worth the extra, short on food, utensils and plates and bowels, a big let down, could not cope. However, the wedding was beautiful.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

Master Brewer

Perries Mead, Broadmead, Folkestone CT19 5UD, UK – 01303 250903

Good roast at a reasonable price. Pub is beginning to look a bit tired

Nice place to hang out

The Pullman

9 Church St, Folkestone CT20 1SE, UK – 01303 488966

The Pullman is simply the best pub in the town. Their food is exceptional and they always have a good selection of real ales. In the summer they have the nicest sun trap of a garden and in the winter they have an open log fire by the bar. The staff are without fail pleasant and friendly, as I said the best pub in town.

Been here several times. Always good service & good food. A choice of bar food or restaurant food, each with different menus. Restaurant is a little pricey, but every so, often it's ok. On our last visit, it was really cold. The door to the beer garden opens straight into the seating area, so everyone still had their coats on which was a shame. They open fires were barely ablaze

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Sunny Lodge Guest House

85 Cheriton Rd, Folkestone CT20 2QL, UK – 01303 251498

Me and my family had traveled from London and had experienced a long drive, however the owners, Shelley and Mick, were extremely warm, hospitable and made us feel at home. The Guesthouse is relaxed, comfortable and has all facilities that you will require. The food is cooked by Shelley and is absolutely wonderful with a selection at breakfast - you couldn't ask for more! The prices are extremely ideal, especially for families and pet owners! With regards to the location, you are only a stone throw away from the town center, seafront and Dover. You cannot go wrong with Sunny lodge and I will continue to visit. :-)

Arriving late afternoon in Folkestone we were very lucky to get the last free room. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They also make a good English breakfast. Room was very cosy and clean. Would certainly stay again!

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Folkestone Camping and Caravanning Club Site

The Warren, Folkestone CT19 6NQ, UK – 01303 255093

A clean and tidy, well run Camping & Caravanning Club Site situated on the cliff edge at The Warren, Folkestone. A dog-friendly site within minutes walk from a wild dog-friendly beach where a cliff-top walk to Folkestone takes about 35 minutes. This lovely site is situated in its own micro-climate. It is so well sheltered that even in a gale-force southwesterly (the prevailing wind) there was barely a breath of wind. Open to non-members. One word of warning; the site is approached by a long narrow winding road. For this reason only motorhomes and tents are accepted.

We have spent many weekends at this idyllic campsite. The views are amazing the staff are very friendly and helpful the beach is dog friendly all year. The toilets are very clean and lovely laundry area. Very sad it closes during the winter period. There is a long steep road approaching the site which can cause problems during summer periods when people park for the beach and you are trying to get through with motorhomes. This all adds to the experience of this wonderful secret hideaway.

Little Switzerland

Wear Bay Rd, Folkestone CT19 6PS, UK – 01303 252168

One of the most visually-stunning campsites I have stayed at anywhere in the world. Tucked comfortably into the white cliffs, with an amazing elevated sweep across the English Channel to a tinderbox-view of France at night, Little Switzerland offered a warm welcome to a group of cyclists tired out after a day of Alpine climbs into and out of Dover and on the approach to Folkestone. And the warm hospitality (and cold pint of beer) offered by the site owner on arrival was very welcome, even keeping the bar/restaurant open late so we could eat our dinner indoors before heading to our tents for the night. Much, much appreciated!

I love it here, me and a few lads head down here every so often on our motorbikes and camp for the night, lovely location with a nice pub on top of the cliffs. Tony and Debbie are always very hospitable.
